Gage gets his art merit badge

This was right after walking out of the firefly exhibit.

After some hard work and drawing different pictures Gage was ready for the last requirement on his list. He needed to go to an art museum and who better to take you than are most favorite neighbor and friend Nancy Richardson. This last Tuesday Sister Richardson took me and my boys to the art gallery. She really was able to introduce us to a different world and a new way of looking at things. My kids really enjoyed the firefly exhibit it was really cool. You went through a dark room that was only illuminated by mirrors and hanging lights that looked like firefly's. For all of you thinking of taking your kids it is free on Tuesdays after 3pm and I think before 6pm. Another item Gage had to do for this merit badge was look up three different careers in art. One of them he choose was an architect. It was really neat to see him look at what it takes to be an architect and consider if that was something that may interest him for a career option. Thanks Nancy for opening our minds and introducing us to your world of art!Nancy explained that this piece is hanging wood. The wood came from a church that had burned to the ground. Instead of being sad and devastated about what happened they took what was left of their church and turned it into a beautiful art piece.
